Wooden Wick Types
There are several different types of candle wicks we offer here at The Wooden Wick Co and the best way to find which wick will work best for your project is to use our Wick Companion Guide. But in case you are curious about all we have to offer, here is a run-down of our wicks, the best wooden wicks for candles:
The Original Wick
This is our premier, all natural single-ply wooden wick, made from native, sappy fruit trees, sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified mills, and manufactured in the USA. This wick is available in a variety of thicknesses, widths, and lengths for use in all wax types. The Original Wick can be used alone or in combination (in the same wick clip) with other wicks to suit your needs.
The Smooth Wick
Our all natural, single-ply Smooth wood candle wicks are considered “booster” wicks, meaning these are not meant to be used alone, but rather in combination with an Original Wick in the same wick clip. They are made from a sweet Mid-West softwood and are sourced from FSC-certified mills. The Smooth Wick is lighter in color than all of our other wicks and when combined with The Original Wick, together they create a unique visual effect.
The Original Dual Wick
The original Dual Wick is a double-ply wick, which is two Original Wicks (each layer being .020 in thickness). Both layers are the same width and height and are adhered together for ease of use. These adhered wicks are an ideal option for vegetable wax blends or candles with heavy fragrance or dye loads. Available in various widths and lengths.
The Original Booster Wick
The Original Booster Wick is a combination of our Original Wick (various thicknesses, widths, and lengths available) combined with a 3/16” Original Wick Booster adhered vertically down the center of the Original Wick. An ideal option for vegetable wax blends, beeswax, and candles with a heavy fragrance or dye load.
Tube Wicks are (in our humble opinion), the most unique and innovative wicks on the market. Made from sappy fruit trees and sourced from FSC-certified mills and made in the USA, Tube Wicks provide a gorgeous circular shaped flame. Tube Wicks need to be used in conjunction with a ¼” width Original Wick and need to be set up differently than our other wicks. See “How do I make a candle with a Tube Wick?” in the FAQ section of our website.
